Interfaith Outreach Food Drive The West Bold Ambassadors are leading our school in its annual food drive for Interfaith Outreach March 9-20 benefiting the food shelf and directly helps many families in our community. Please consider sending in some of the most needed items listed and/or cash or check donations made out to Interfaith Outreach (put "Prevent Hunger" in the memo) to your student's advisory! Monetary donations can also be made online. We are having a friendly competition to see which advisory can bring in the most items. (For our counting purposes, $1 donated equals one item.)
Reporting an Absence in Skyward There is a new dropdown for you to choose when reporting an absence for your child. This will provide assistance to know how many students are absent reporting Influenza like illnesses. We monitor this number and report to MDH after a threshold has been met. Please look for: Temp100+ & Cough or Sore Throat Thank you!

Reminders Girls on the Run / Heart and Sole Girls on the Run/Heart and Sole begins March 17 at Central Middle School. If you are interested in your daughter participating, there's still time and space! Please go to their website for more information about their program and to register.
Girls on the Run (Heart and Sole for middle schoolers) inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, participants develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k event on May 30.
Heart and Sole will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 beginning March 17 and running through June 2. When school is not in session, Heart and Sole will be canceled. The leaders are starting promptly at 4:00 at CMS. In order to be on time, parents will need to make arrangements to get their students to CMS. If you have questions, please email Amy Kondziolka.
Spring 2020 MCA Testing Schedule Please make note of your students tests days. When possible, please refrain from making appointments outside of school when your student is testing. Please remember that good sleep, a good breakfast and a charged iPad will be very helpful for your student on testing days.
If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact Kelly Riebe at 763-745-6430.
Upcoming activities
Families will need to complete Activity/Extracurricular Participation form for each activity a student joins during the year. The Activity/Extracurricular Fee needs to be paid once for unlimited extracurricular clubs and activities for the given school year (this excludes athletics). The Activity/Extracurricular fee is on EPay. The form is found in the main office, in Mrs. Jorenby's office in the media center, and from the coaches.
Reporting Absences in Skyward Family Access Please report absences in Skyward Family Access when your child is absent, tardy or has an appointment during the school day. Children are considered unexcused without notification from a parent or guardian. When you are submitting the attendance request in Skyward Family Access, you must be logged in as a parent, not a student. You can still call the attendance line (763-745-6455) to report an absence and we recommend calling if it is a last-minute request. The health office must have a current phone number on file in case of an emergency. If your daytime phone numbers have changed, please send new or updated numbers to the health office.

Volunteer Needs Attention 8th Grade Parents: 8th Grade Graduation Middle school graduation is just around the corner, can you believe it? That means it's time to start planning the 8th grade party. Your PTA needs volunteers to help plan, organize, and throw the bon voyage party. It may sound like a big job, but truly it's not. We have planning binders and photo layouts for the events to make it as easy as possible. We need at least 2 volunteers to be the chairpersons and 6-8 more volunteers to be subcommittee chairs (games, decorations, catering, fundraising, etc). We need your help to give our students the sendoff they deserve! Please email your PTA President Derek or Vice-President Junia if you are able to volunteer for this event.
The PTA sponsors events and programs throughout the year that need volunteers. Fill out our Volunteer Sign Up Form to find programs that best fit your interests and schedule.
