Golden Tray Award Winners At Kimberly Lane we are focusing and recognizing students who are polite at lunch. The culinary express staff chooses one child per month in each grade level to win the Golden Tray Award. Here are the students whose politeness shined the brightest this last week. The winner of the Golden Tray Award actually wins the award for his/her class since the tray gets to be displayed in the winner's classroom the whole week. The Golden Tray Award is a traveling trophy and winners announced once each month! Congratulations to: Zhaoya, Gus, Coplan, Arjun, Lilah, and Lakylee!

Media Center Updates "I Love to Read" month has gotten off to a great start. On February 5, we celebrated World Read Aloud Day with Dr. Wehrmann reading aloud to lunches all day, and Dr. Anderson making a guest appearance from the district office to read the Star of the North nominated book John Deere, that's who! to some afternoon classes. He wore his special John Deere tie and hat for the occasion. The following day, our 3rd graders had to the opportunity to Skype with author Gale Galligan, the author of the student favorite books "The Babysitters Club" books 5,6, and 7 in the graphic novel series. Big thank you to our Kimberly Lane PTA for supporting this effort with a grant this year. Mr. Hobbs' 5th grade class had their own Skype opportunity in the afternoon with author John David Anderson, following their class read aloud of Miss Bixby's Last Day over the past few months. Today our K-2 classes had a special visit from local author Mary Bleckwehl. It's always a treat to have authors teach our students about the writing process and their books using their personal experiences. Do you want to make a contribution to the library media program at Kimberly Lane to help celebrate "I Love to Read" month? We keep a growing Wish List of books on Amazon for those who wish to contribute to our students' diverse (and growing!) reading needs. Thank you in advance!
