News from Our Specialists Here's what has been happening in Spanish!
Additional Music News My name is Mr. Parsell and I am the new music specialist at Birchview. I am very excited to have the opportunity to offer a before school choir at Birchview for 4th and 5th grade students. We have some fun events planned for this school year that will provide our choir members experience with leadership, choral singing, community building, and teamwork. The group will meet once a week before school on Wednesdays starting February 12, and will include a performance to be attended by families, friends, and community members. The following information gives you the tentative rehearsal schedule, information about rehearsal times, and drop-off information as well as expectations for choir. I am looking forward to working with your singer and having a rewarding rest of the school year filled with music! 4th grade students will also begin learning the recorder in a few short weeks. Please see the information below on what they will learn and how you can purchase!

Lost and Found Last Call Next week items from the Lost and Found will be spread out on tables in the main hallway between the Media Center and the Cafeteria. They will be there during conferences and the Book Fair so that parents can have an opportunity to look for any missing items. On Friday, January 31 any items remaining will be bagged up to be donated to Interfaith Outreach.

Sign Up for EPay We are going to start using EPay for collecting funds for classrooms, field trips, etc. The hope is that this will cut down on the amount of time teachers put in to working on field trips and the amount of cash and checks they have to handle in their classrooms. You will receive more information on how to use EPay when your child has their next field trip, but I wanted to make sure you had a heads up ahead of time.

Around the District January Wayzata Legislative Action Committee Update Club Y.E.S. Movie Night – Friday, January 31 at WHS Club Y.E.S. Charitable Movie Night Flyer Cold, Flu, and Lice… What Can You Do to Help? Head lice are a common problem for children in childcare settings and schools and anybody can get it. Most cases of head lice are acquired outside of school. Remember to check your child’s head after returning from a play date or sleepover – two common settings where head lice are spread. Regular observation by parents can also be an effective way to detect and quickly treat head lice. More information is available on the Minnesota Department of Health or CDC websites as well as ways to treat head lice. When to keep your child home from school We've had so many great Ask Ali questions in our inbox – thanks to all who have submitted!
