Children are considered unexcused without notification from a parent or guardian. When you are submitting the attendance request in Skyward Family Access, you must be logged in as a parent, not a student. You can still call the attendance line (763-745-6455) to report an absence and we recommend calling if it is a last-minute request. The PTA Grant is a yearly process sponsored by the WMS PTA where money is allocated to help meet the varied needs identified by teachers, staff and students. Starting this year, we would like to invite you participate in this process and complete a Grant Application. Grants may be requested for individual classrooms or for items or projects that benefit a range of classrooms or grade levels. Examples of items that have been granted in the past are: Literature sets, an incubator, conference room furniture, an exam room table, FCS food/supplies, Headphones for classroom, etc. Aside from this year's grants, we are starting to build a pipeline of requests that could potentially be fulfilled during the school year should we have more money available to invest. If you have identified a need, please fill out a request form by next Wednesday, Feb 4. If you have an idea that may need further research, let us know as we have people that are willing to help pull together the requests. Grant Forms, PTA Membership Forms (if you are still not a member) and PTA Committee contact information can be found at our website. If you have any additional question or need any additional detail, do not hesitate to let us know.

Around the District January Wayzata Legislative Action Committee Update Club Y.E.S. Movie Night – Friday, January 31 at WHS Club Y.E.S. Charitable Movie Night Flyer Cold, Flu, and Lice… What Can You Do to Help? Head lice are a common problem for children in childcare settings and schools and anybody can get it. Most cases of head lice are acquired outside of school. Remember to check your child’s head after returning from a play date or sleepover – two common settings where head lice are spread. Regular observation by parents can also be an effective way to detect and quickly treat head lice. More information is available on the Minnesota Department of Health or CDC websites as well as ways to treat head lice. When to keep your child home from school We've had so many great Ask Ali questions in our inbox – thanks to all who have submitted! Ali, along with her network of local experts, has been working hard to answer these questions. Responses are posted every Monday on her blog at partnersinpreventionmn.org/askali. Parents, you've got to check out the responses to these questions! There are some interesting ones that have been asked; chances are you might be wondering some of these things.
