Principal's Note I hope you all are enjoying your Thanksgiving break. Spending time with family and friends is a wonderful way to have your children connect and create lasting relationships with those important to you and your family.
Next week, our PTA will have two events, that I encourage you to attend. The Book Fair will run Wednesday through Friday morning. On Thursday, December 6, it will be open 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. These evening hours coincide with the Family Service Night. Family Service Night is an event that helps teach our children how they can make a difference in the world, by sharing their time, energy and resources to help others. You can find more information below, in the PTA News section of this newsletter.
Once again, thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely, Sarabeth deNeui, Principal

Family Service Night - Thursday, December 5, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Family Service Night is only one week away! With six activity stations and two donation stations, this event provides the whole family with an opportunity to learn, grow, and serve others all while having fun! Please remember to bring your donations for Interfaith Outreach's food shelf and the libraries of Children's Hospitals of MN. Most needed items for Interfaith Outeach include: cooking oil, peanut butter, jelly, paper towels, toilet paper, and healthy snacks. New and gently used books will benefit a variety of their patient programs. Please note that books must have like-new covers/spines and cannot have missing/torn pages or any writing/inscriptions. We will also have a table at the Book Fair highlighting some of their most needed books, giving you an opportunity to support both the Book Fair and this cause!
We Need You for Culture Quest – Thursday, January 16, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Culture Quest is an interactive family event at Oakwood that carries on our tradition of celebrating the numerous cultures and experiences of Oakwood families. Please consider volunteering to share your cultural heritage, or about a country where you've lived or traveled, through a table display at Culture Quest. Tables will be provided. Interested or want to learn more? Contact Natalie at culturequest@oakwoodpta.org.

How to Earn? Box Tops Makes it Easy! No more clipping. No more dropping Box Tops in the Oakwood bucket. All you need is your phone. Download the Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit Oakwood's Box Tops earnings online. Twice a year, your Oakwood will receive a check!
Oakwood Family Directory As a reminder, all Oakwood families need to create an account and input family information to be included in the directory. You will not be able to access friends in the directory without creating an account and setting up your family profile. This is a very useful tool to set up play dates and birthday invites! Get started at Membership Toolkit. Any questions can be directed to Michelle Ugurlu, Vice President, at vicepresident@oakwoodpta.org.
Volunteer Needs Book Fair Volunteer for the book fair to show support – no experience is required. Email Steph Coltart at bookfair@oakwoodpta.org for more information.
Family Service Night – December 5, 6:00-8:00 A few more parent volunteers are still needed to make this event a success. Contact Lindsay Bondy at clarkbondy@hotmail.com with questions.
