Safety Drill - November 19 Dear Families,
I am writing to let you know that our school conducted a lockdown drill today during our Advisory period that included classroom discussions about "situational awareness" and our district's "Run/Hide/Fight" Enhanced Lockdown protocols. Enhanced Lockdown procedures are designed to protect students and staff from potential dangers, such as threats or intruders. Procedures and classroom discussion content has been developed in collaboration with district safety staff and local law enforcement and reflects best-practice recommendations from the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and our local police departments. We conduct school safety drills in accordance with state law so that, in case of an emergency, we can all feel comfortable with the procedures used.
While these discussions can be challenging at times, they are important in promoting a school-wide culture of safety and awareness. The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority for our school and district. I encourage you to talk with your student(s) today about the drill and classroom safety discussions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call.
Thank you,
Dave Lutz, Principal |
