Extended 1st Block Information for November 13 Dear Students,
Please access the below information and links during the extended 1st block on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. Part 1: Vaping Presentation & Vaping Culture Survey Partners in Prevention has developed a vaping presentation that will focus on the reality of how the tobacco companies have unfairly targeted our student generation and signs to identify/prevent addiction. Vaping has become a national public health epidemic. On Wednesday, November 13, all students at WHS will be watching a short video, specifically introducing five points:
The vaping epidemic has captured many of our youth. Doctors in Detroit performed what they believe is the United States' first double lung transplant on a patient whose lungs were damaged after vaping, according to the hospital. The male patient, who turned 17 while recovering at the hospital, wants to remain anonymous for now, but was described as a high school athlete who likes to sail, play video games and hang out with friends. We want to get a better sense of our current climate at WHS regarding vaping so we know how to address specific concerns of the WHS community. Thank you for your willingness to help us! The survey is anonymous and will not be linked to any username. Part 2: Student Wellness Survey We ask that you now complete the Wayzata High School Wellness Survey. This survey will be kept confidential and will be used to help improve our student support services at WHS. Your username is required to limit each student to one response. No identifying information is captured unless you provide your name at the end of the survey. Thank you for your participation! Have a great Wednesday!
Sincerely,
Wayzata High School
