Thank You! Thank you for your partnership with conferences these past few weeks! We are grateful to see your kids everyday and collaborate to support them throughout their experience at Kimberly Lane.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who provided our staff with delicious meals and treats during our long conference days. We appreciate you!
Did You Know? Unity Day October is National bullying prevention month. Students and staff will celebrate Unity Day on Wednesday, October 23. Please consider participating by wearing orange to school. We will unite as a school to prevent bullying and support kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
End of Day Plan Changes If you are needing your student to do something different than they normally do at the end of the day, we ask that you send a paper note in with your student or call the office by 1:30 to let us know. Teachers are unable to be checking their emails throughout the day, and if we have a substitute teacher, they do not get those emails. We are unable to notify teachers after 1:30.
If your student takes any of the day care buses at the end of the day, you must let them know if they will not be riding that bus so they are not looking for them. Thank you for your support in helping our end of day run smoothly.
Lost and Found At Kimberly Lane we have a lost and found that accumulates over each month. At the end of every month, we go through each item to see if there is a name labeled. All items that are clearly labeled get returned to that student. Sadly, most items are not labeled, therefore we donate them monthly. Please take the time to label all of your child's clothing, outerwear, boots, etc. with first and last name so we can get items back to you. Stuck on you, and Mabels Labels are both great options for iron-on labels.
Recess/Outdoor Clothing Please make sure your student has all necessary outdoor clothing to be warm at recess. We go out until the temperature reaches -15º below windchill. And remember, label everything!
Reminders Media News On November 12, author Hena Khan will be visiting Kimberly Lane as well as other Wayzata elementary schools during the week. Through the generous funding of a Wayzata Education Foundation grant and our KL assembly committee, we are excited to welcome her to Kimberly Lane. Hena is a Pakistani-American author who was born, raised, and lives in Maryland. She has authored a variety of both picture books and middle grade novels. We are also providing students the opportunity to order discounted books through Red Balloon Bookshop and sending home order forms that are due by Monday, October 14. You may send them back to school with your student if you are interested in ordering books.
Volunteer Needs
PTA News Box Tops Update Many thanks to all of the students and families that participated in the 2019 Box Tops Summer Challenge. We collected almost 2,200 eligible Box Tops! Great work. The winner of this year's Box Top challenge is the Breault family! Hudson, Duke, and Marley who submitted 298 eligible Box Tops. Congratulations! They will enjoy a "sweet treat." Please continue to bring in any remaining Box Tops from eligible products as they will still be counted in the transition phase.
PTA News Myth #3 about the PTA: I already volunteer at school, so I don't need to actually become a member of the PTA. Fact: There are benefits to being an actual member of the PTA. You receive additional communications about meetings and volunteer opportunities. You are able to actively participate in the meetings by voting on such issues as Teacher Grants or the Annual Budget. In addition, the PTA uses their membership funds to purchase insurance to cover all of our activities. Join today.
Save the Date! Our next PTA Meeting is Friday, October 25 at 1:15 p.m. in the Kimberly Lane Commons Area. Chace Anderson, Superintendent of Wayzata Public Schools, will be joining us. You do not have to be a member of the PTA to attend meetings.
Did you know that you can generate donations for Kimberly Lane PTA every time you place an order on Amazon? Just go to AmazonSmile and choose"Kimberly Lane PTA" as your charity, and a portion of every purchase will automatically be donated to our PTA.
