Dot Day! On Friday, September 13 we will be celebrating International Dot Day at Kimberly Lane. In art class we have read "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds, and created a dot masterpiece. At Kimberly Lane, we truly believe that every student has something to contribute, no matter how big or small, and we want our kids to always know that. Join us by encouraging your child to show their creativity by wearing all things "dotty" on September 13 to join in the celebration!
Sincerely,
Did You Know? Picture Day Picture day will be on Tuesday, September 17. Pictures can be ordered online at mylifetouch.com. Our code is EVTXD7D3D
Water Bottles Starting on Monday, September 16 we will no longer offer water bottles to purchase in the cafeteria. Please feel free to send reusable water bottles with your student they can place them in the lunch baskets and bring it to lunch.
Naturalist Visits Our Naturalist will be visiting your child's classroom over the next few weeks. Please dress your student for possible wet, cool or muddy conditions.
Media News The media center is open and ready for reading and learning! There is another exciting year of reading and learning ahead. Please help remind your student to return the library books in their backpack each day so they can continue reading at school or return them to the library for other students to read and love.
Do you want to volunteer in the media center on a weekly basis? Please let the PTA know in their volunteer signup form. We are always in need of help to keep our library organized and books back on the shelves. We will train you if you're new to library organization!
Do you want to help the library, but don't have time to volunteer? You can help by donating books to our collection! We have a routinely updated Amazon Wish List filled with some of our most popular books that kids love to read. Sometimes it's hard to keep them on our shelves, they're so popular! Simply visit our Amazon Wish List online, purchase one (or more!) books, and bring it to school to donate. Our avid Coyote Readers will love them. Want to see what's happening in the media center or some of our newest books? Follow our Twitter @WayzataKLMC.
Reminders Reporting Absences in Skyward Family Access New this year, we are asking elementary parents/guardians to report student absences online in Skyward Family Access. Middle and high school parents/guardians are already reporting student absences online.
Please know that students will be considered unexcused if an absence is not reported. You may call your school to report an absence if you don't have online access.
It's also important to make sure your phone numbers are updated in Skyward Family Access in case of an emergency. Please learn more about reporting attendance instructions.
We appreciate your help and patience as we make this transition. If you have any questions about using Skyward Family Access, contact helpdesk@wayzataschools.org.
Morning Drop Off The student morning drop off is on the south side of the building by the large playground. Proceed counter-clockwise around the building to the drop-off area. Use a sensible speed. Your children should leave your car in a timely manner to prevent back-up. There is only one drop-off area for K-5 students. Students should all enter the building through the south doors, and wait until the first bus arrives. Then they are excused to go to their classrooms. Students should not arrive at school before 7:30 a.m. unless arrangements have been made in advance with the school office or classroom teacher. Parents should never leave their cars parked in the fire lane. Simply drop your child off and proceed around the far east onto Old Rockford Road. Watch this great video to see how it's done!
Volunteer Needs Volunteer this Year! We need volunteers! Remember to go to our volunteer sign-up and let us know what volunteer opportunities you may be interested in. This does not commit you to anything, but allows you to receive more information as those opportunities approach throughout the year. There is something for everyone.
Partners In Art Partners in art volunteers needed. No art back ground is needed. Just a willingness to participate in your own child's classroom. 2-5 hours the entire year. All materials are provided to you along with step by step instruction. If interested, please fill out our volunteer form.

Box Top Program is Changing The traditional Box Top clips are being phased out and the program will become digital-only. To participate in the digital program, download the app and scan your store receipt for participating products within 14 days of purchase. The app will automatically add Box Top to Kimberly Lane's earnings online, giving you real time visibility into the school's progress and your family's contributions. Please continue to send in any remaining unexpired Box Tops you have as we phase into the digital program. Remember that the Box Top summer challenge announced last spring runs until October 4. The student/family that submits the most Box Tops in a labelled baggie or on sheet wins a "sweet" prize.
Join the PTA We encourage all parents to join the Kimberly Lane Parent-Teacher Association. Anyone who signs up for the PTA before October 4 will be entered into a drawing to win a free Wayzata t-shirt. Three winners will be drawn. Joining PTA is being an advocate for your child's educational experience at Kimberly Lane.
