A Message from Mr. Fredrickson The end of the school year is always bitter sweet for me, and probably for many others, too. We see students who have mastered another year of growth academically, socially and emotionally. Birchview is, above all else, an institution of learning and so much is learned by everyone. Many of you who are reading this will have children back at Birchview next year, some will have children moving on to middle school and (sadly for us) some of your children will be moving on to new schools due to family changes. No matter what next year holds in store for you and for your children, please know that I have appreciated partnering with you in the education of your children – our students.
We are fortunate to have a fabulous event put on by the PTA to celebrate the year. The carnival yesterday, again, exceeded expectations. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to make this happen. A special thanks to PTA members Leigh Doyle and Claire Swanson for being the organizers of the event. They did a lot to pull it off!
Braelyn, one of our 3rd grade students, brought me the following message for announcements today. She told me she thought, "someone should write a nice message for the last day of school's announcements." So many of us say, "someone should" but Braelyn actually took the initiative. Enjoy her parting thoughts for the year.
Hey, Birchview!
Today, the very last day of school to you! You might be ending Bright Start, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th, 5th. You might be sad but it's a good reminder you are past that year and to look how much you've grown. You might think you've helped yourself. But not just you did – everybody else, too! Your best friend, family, teachers, staff, principals, therapists…they all helped you grow. And not just you grew. The staff, best friends, family, teachers, principals…they've grown to know you! And they've grown better to help you and so many other students as well. They've grown to make Birchview the best they can be!
So enjoy your last day and see you next year.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Warmly,
Mr. Fredrickson
Have a great summer!
