Year End Principal Letter Dear WHS Parent/Guardian and Student:
I hope this letter finds you enjoying the brighter and warmer days of spring! We have had a great year at Wayzata High School and much of that credit deservedly goes to the students. It's always hard saying goodbye to another graduating class, but it is also exciting to think about all the great things they will do with their lives moving forward. Having said that, we still have a few days ahead of us before the school year closes.
I am writing to you as a partner to help ensure a safe, healthy and positive finish to the school year. It is important for all students to put forth their best effort academically and behaviorally through the final day of school. A major factor in ensuring a positive close to the school year is to provide students and their parent/guardian with information that clearly communicates expectations and helps students understand that they are accountable for their actions. Students are expected to maintain excellent behavior and attendance through the final day of school.
The school and community will not tolerate behavior of any student who destroys or damages property, causes disruption at the school, injures or physically harms people or animals, or engages in disrespectful behavior toward fellow students or staff at Wayzata High School. Students who participate in any type of a school disturbance will be suspended from school and face possible legal consequences. Additionally, seniors involved in such activity will be disallowed from attendance and participation in the commencement exercise scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2019. It is our hope that this letter will remove all doubt about the consequences associated with a poor decision to participate in disruptive activities. If in doubt about the appropriateness of an activity, don't do it.
You may notice an increased presence of Plymouth police officers in and around WHS during the remaining days of the school year. Their presence should not cause alarm. It is to reassure students and parents that our police liaison officers are working as partners with school personnel to help everyone enjoy a positive closing to the school year. Students are reminded to exercise extreme caution while driving on school property. We don't want anyone to jeopardize safety by making illegal and careless or dangerous driving decisions.
We want students to enjoy the remaining days of school, so it is essential that we maintain a school climate where students can have fun and enjoy each other's company. The continuance of a climate that enhances rather than hinders the educational experience for each student is expected from all students. Again, it's been a great year at Wayzata High School. Let's have an impressive and safe finish. Thank you again for your contributions to this excellent year! Sincerely, |
