MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge Congratulations to the Mathworks Math Modeling Challenge team made up of juniors Amanda Chan, George Lyu, and Zachary Xiong and seniors Caroline Zeng and Alisha Zhu. Their solution paper regarding the growth of vaping versus the historical growth of cigarettes and the societal impact of drug use and abuse earned them placement among the top six teams out of over 1,100 teams nationwide who registered for the competition. Their efforts also earned them $5,000 in prize money! They presented their solution to a panel of professional mathematicians from the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics at Jane Street in New York City. You can watch their presentation - you'll have to scroll down a bit - the teams are listed in reverse order and we were the first to present. Great work, and congratulations!!
