German Exchange Group Visit to WHS - April 9 - April 25 Danke schön to all of the Wayzata High School families who hosted a German Exchange Student this Spring! From a snow day to 80 degree weather, from visiting the state capitol to the local grocery store, from attending classes to hanging out with friends, the 20 students and 2 teachers from Humboldt Gymnasium enjoyed their stay. We will complete the Exchange this summer traveling with students to Dusseldorf. We are so thankful for the support of WPS and especially our students and families for making this opportunity possible. Vielen Dank!

"Not Me!" Training - May 1 & May 8 It's back by popular demand! You are invited and encouraged to take advantage of this awesome opportunity to educate and empower you and your teens on safety and self-defense. Parents who have attended "Not Me!" training in previous years have all raved about this experience. Because of it's past success, "Not Me!" training is now being subsidized by the WHS PTO to provide more students and parents this opportunity. Safety and self-defense are important tools for our teens to have, especially as they become more independent and start to plan for college. The WHS PTO is sponsoring this opportunity for you and your teen to gain strategies and the confidence to take care of yourselves in threatening situations. We hope you don't have to use these skills, but if you do... you will be ready. Sign up now as the training is on Wednesday, May 1, 7-9 p.m. for boys/dads, and on Wednesday, May 8, 6:30-9:30 p.m. for girls/moms. The class will start in the WHS Auditorium 2 and continue in the gym. Register on EPay: $20 per duo ($10/single).

WHS Science Department News Human Anatomy is off to a great start. Students have enjoyed looking at rabbit muscle tissue. They observed the fiber bundles in rigor, added ATP to see relaxation, and then added calcium ions to see contraction. A red and green laser were used to shine through the fibers resulting in diffraction spots on the wall. In May, students will watch open heart surgery on a patient LIVE via video-conference. Doctors, nurses, perfusionists, and anesthesiologists from the University of Chicago will answer our questions and discuss what they're doing while performing the surgery. This is sure to be a real heart-stopper (and then starter!).
