From the Desk of Dr. G Something Special As you'll see in the PTA section of this newsletter, our PTA has an urgent need for volunteers to organize the 2019 Grizzly Gathering, our first community night of the school year. This is always a special event and many volunteers come together to make it happen. If you're willing to help chair this event, please reach out to our PTA Board via the contact information included below in the Volunteer Needs section. We really want to continue this special tradition, but that will require a volunteer to serve as point-person. Thanks so much for considering, Brad Gustafson, Principal

Reminders Summer Reading What: Book donations are still needed! From April 8 - May 3, families are encouraged to send in gently used or new books to help our upcoming Put Your Paws on a Good Book project. Our goal is to get more books in the hands of all Greenwood readers this summer. We need all kinds of books - easy readers for K-1, all the way up to novels for our 5th graders!
Why: We want our students to get excited about reading over the summer and have access to new books and high-interest titles. Research shows that kids can lose up to 30% of their reading progress over the summer. Our goal is to invite every student to choose at least 6 books to take home to read (and keep) over the summer months...that's a lot of books, so we really need your help!
When: Each K-5 classroom will be collecting books from April 8 - May 3.
Do you know a business or organization willing to give a monetary donation to be used towards books? We'd welcome our community's help on this ambitious project.

(If your child is attending another school next year, please contact their school office with school supply questions.) This is an optional online service. It is fast, easy, and supplies will be in your child's classroom at Open House. A small percentage of all sales will benefit Greenwood. Online ordering will be accepted through June 30.
