From the Desk of Dr. G BookTalk DJs are Back I hope everyone had a great spring break. Our 3rd grade readers are at it again, and now they've joined forces with some 5th graders who are creating music in a program called Garage Band! Check out their literacy-themed podcast and super-cool background music. As an added challenge, we asked students to try and explain their entire book in only six words. Kind regards, Brad Gustafson, Principal

Summer Reading What: Book donations are needed! From April 8 - May 3, families are encouraged to send in gently used or new books to help our upcoming Put Your Paws on a Good Book project. Our goal is to get more books in the hands of all Greenwood readers this summer. We need all kinds of books - easy readers for K-1, all the way up to novels for our 5th graders!
Why: We want our students to get excited about reading over the summer and have access to new books and high-interest titles. Research shows that kids can lose up to 30% of their reading progress over the summer. Our goal is to invite every student to choose at least 6 books to take home to read (and keep) over the summer months...that's a lot of books, so we really need your help!
When: Each K-5 classroom will be collecting books from April 8 - May 3.
Do you know a business or organization willing to give a monetary donation to be used towards books? We'd welcome our community's help on this ambitious project.
