Choir Concert - Tonight

Our 4th and 5th grade choir concert is at 7:00 p.m. tonight in the Greenwood gym. We're looking forward to seeing students shine and celebrating the work they've put in all school year long.

Morning Drop-Off

Thank you for all you do to help your child start his or her day successfully. We wanted to provide families a friendly reminder so we can continue to partner together on positive attendance. Families who choose to drop off their children may do so starting at 7:30 a.m.; this allows us to ensure we have supervision in place as students start to enter the building. Our final bell rings at 7:45 a.m. and students are asked to be in their classrooms by this time.

If there is anything I can do to support your family with this process please let me know.

Passport to Passion

We're showcasing the passions and creativity of our 3rd and 4th graders on March 7 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. We suggest families with 3rd graders attend from 5:00-5:45 p.m. and families with 4th grade students attend from 5:45-6:30 p.m. to help with parking.

Parent Input Form

Each spring, the Greenwood team works together to collaborate on the creation of balanced learning groups. Many important variables are considered, and teachers who know your child well are part of the process. As balanced learning groups are formed, the principal assigns a teacher to each group of students. We have created a form that provides parents the option to provide input into this process.

Please print a paper copy of your input form and turn it into the main office by April 1, 2019. We ask that the form that is linked above be used for all parent input. Please do not rely upon verbal requests, conferences, e-mails, etc. to provide input; we've found that we can best serve kids when a consistent form is used. Please resubmit your input annually; do not rely upon any form that was submitted in previous school years as children change from year to year.

We will try to communicate class placement decisions a week before Open House by posting them on the front doors and uploading them into Skyward's Family Access.

Thanks for your partnership and support,

Brad Gustafson, Principal

Around the District

Emergency School Closing
The superintendent may close school, delay the start of school or dismiss school early because of extreme weather or other emergency conditions. If schools are to be closed for the entire day, an announcement will be made as early as possible over WCCO 830 AM radio; WCCO-TV, Channel 4; KSTP-TV, Channel 5; KMSP-TV, Channel 9; and KARE- TV, Channel 11. Announcements will also be posted on the District’s website at wayzataschools.org and phone calls and email messages will be sent to all families using the district’s parent notification system.

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver SMS text messages, straight to your mobile phone with important information. To participate in this free service, ensure that you have entered your cell phone number in the Skylert section of Skyward Family Access, then send a text message of "Y" or "Yes" to our district's short code number, 67587.

My Stop® App – Live Bus GPS Information
My Stop® is a web-based application available to all Wayzata Public School parents and students that lets them access live bus GPS information. Using a smartphone or tablet, parents and students can view the current location of buses on routes and the estimated time of arrival at their neighborhood bus stops. This simple tool gives families and students the ability to know approximately where the school bus is on its route. My Stop® displays the school bus’ approximate location on a map, as well as the estimated time of arrival (ETA) to a specific student’s bus stop. The school bus’ location is automatically updated every 1 to 2 minutes and the ETA is recalculated to accommodate any delays due to traffic while the bus is en route.

Remaining 6th Grade Band and Orchestra Instrument Selection Nights are February 11, 21 and 26. Students who are interested in playing in band or orchestra in 6th grade must sign-up for a 20-minute instrument selection time at Central Middle School.
