Learning Model Planning Update – February 2, 2021 Dear WPS Families and Staff,
It's been an exciting week as we welcomed back our in-person elementary students to school buildings, as well as our middle school students in the hybrid learning model.
The next phase of our transition planning will include bringing middle school students who are currently in the hybrid model and Wayzata High School students back into a full time, in-person learning model. We are fortunate that the COVID-19 positive county numbers have been declining and we are planning to take advantage of the opportunity if the trend continues. Increased staff vaccinations and any possible future changes in guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education could also impact the timing of our return to full in-person learning.
More information will be sent on Monday, February 8. The purpose of the communication will be to provide an update on in-person transition planning for grades 6-12, as well as give high school families an opportunity to elect distance learning for students who may be medically vulnerable or otherwise unable or uncomfortable with attending in-person.
Middle school students who are currently in the hybrid learning model would transition to in-person learning. Middle school students who are in distance choice will stay in their current learning model for the remainder of the school year.
We look forward to sharing more information next week. It's been a long, challenging journey. We sincerely appreciate your continued patience and support as we navigate this pandemic and do everything possible to best meet the learning needs of students, while keeping our students and staff safe.
Sincerely,
Chace B. Anderson Superintendent |
