Fall Planning Update – August 11, 2020 Dear WPS Families and Staff,
I'm writing to provide an update about our Wayzata Learns planning process for the 2020-21 school year. At last night's School Board meeting, the Board unanimously passed a resolution to start the school year in a hybrid model, and also provided the flexibility to move between learning models to respond to COVID-19 and be responsive to the individual needs of schools and programs to be able to deliver quality education to all students.
In addition, results of the most recent survey of families and staff were presented. Results and feedback from this survey are being considered and will continue to inform our planning as we move forward.
Stacey Lackner, our director of research and evaluation, reviewed survey results about how comfortable families and staff are feeling with the various learning scenarios outlined by the Governor given the uncertainty of COVID-19. Common themes of the open-ended feedback were also shared, as well as the change in comfort levels from the last survey that was conducted in June.
We are committed to being as responsive as possible to parent and staff feedback. As a result of this feedback, we will be sharing additional information and details about our Wayzata Distance Choice option tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12 and extending the deadline to opt in until Friday, August 14 at 8 a.m. Families who don't opt in to Wayzata Distance Choice will then be notified of their A/B assignment in the hybrid model on August 19. View the updated timeline.
We will continue to keep you updated as we progress in our planning for the 2020-21 school year. We greatly appreciate your continued support and patience as we work hard to meet the needs of each and every student to the best of our ability given the uncertainties of the pandemic.
Be well,
Chace B. Anderson Superintendent |
