Welcome to Birchview! On behalf of our world-class staff, I extend my best wishes to you and your family. We look forward to the many learning experiences that await your children and the partnerships we hope to cultivate with you in developing them into lifelong learners.
We continue to have great success with our schoolwide student support program called PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support). For short, we call this Trojan Pride. Trojan Pride is about creating a school where students know what to expect and all adults work together to create a positive atmosphere that helps students thrive. The clear expectations we set for behavior helps students know the boundaries and instead of wondering what to do, they can use their brains to focus on academics and friendships. You will hear us (and hopefully your child) talk about Trojan Pride and the "4-C's" which are Community, Compassion, Curiosity and Commitment. To expand on that we say:
Birchview is a collaborative Community of learners that consistently:
- Inspires Compassion for ourselves and others
- Creates Curiosity about our world
- Cultivates a Commitment to self-improvement
Birchview will also offer the unique WIN program. WIN (What I Need) Time is a time of the day set aside for students to receive instruction focused on exactly where they are in their educational growth. Students who receive support services such as EL, Reading or Math Intervention, Sp. Ed. and Vision 21 receive these services during WIN time. Students who don't receive these services remain in the classroom working with the classroom teacher with a much smaller ratio of students to teachers. Watch for more information on WIN Time from your child's classroom teacher.
