Description of sport: Competitive distance running consisting of Varsity, JV, Sophomore-Freshman and Middle School squads.

Length of season: Practice begins August 12, 2019 and continues nine weeks for JV and 10 weeks for Varsity. Tryouts for returning runners will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019.

Practice times: 8:30 a.m. and/or 7 p.m. prior to the school year. Practice is at 3:30 p.m. during the school year.

Practice sites: Practices are held on multiple sites including golf courses, parks, local roads and school grounds. We meet in the high school athletic locker room.

Competitions: Meets are after school or on Saturdays. 9-12 races during the fall. 2-3 miles long.

Eligibility requirements: Grade 7-12. Meet MSHSL and Wayzata Public Schools Eligibility Requirements. Must be fully registered with the Activities Office. Eligible sports qualifying physical, eligibility form and fee payment must be on file in the Activities Office before participation.

Average number of members: 150.

Costs and/or needed equipment: Participation fee, wrist watch and good running shoes.

Awards criteria & type of awards: Lettering requirements determined by head coach. A copy of the requirements is available in the Activities Office.

Student Leadership: Captains are selected by returning runners.
