Band

Description of activity: Marching band, spirit band, jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, wind symphony, symphonic band, 9th grade bands and percussion ensemble.

Where to go for more information: Room E245.

Length of season: Varies from band to band.

Practice and/or meeting times: Varies from group to group.

Performances: 5-10 performances per year at concerts, athletic events and community activities.

Eligibility requirements: Enrollment in band and qualifying for special groups through auditions. Meet the Wayzata Public Schools Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements.

Average number of members: 400.

Costs and/or needed equipment: Musical instrument or rental fee, lesson books and supplements for uniforms. Some auxiliary groups which meet outside the school day have a $55 activity fee (jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble).

Awards criteria and type of awards: Letters may be awarded to students who meet the criteria which can be obtained from one of the directors.

Student leadership: Band Council and Marching Band Rank Lieutenants.
