Science Bowl

Description of activity: A competitive event in which students are quizzed on multiple choice and short answer questions in the categories of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Space, Energy and Math.

Length of season: Mid-September to the end of January; post-season nationals at end of April.

Meeting times: At least once a week after school for 1-2 hours.

Meeting site: A440.

Competitions: Round-robin practice tournament(s) during the season; State Tournament at end of January; Nationals in early May.

Eligibility requirements: Interest in science. Meet the Wayzata Public Schools Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements.

Average number of members: 20-30. 4-5 teams.

Costs and/or needed equipment: Participation fee through the EPay system.

Awards criteria & type of awards: Top three teams are recognized at the State competition; top team wins trip to Nationals.

Student leadership: Each 4-5 person team has a captain.
