Model United Nations

Description of activity: Educational simulations and preparations for academic competitions in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. Students research other countries and a variety of key issues and current events. Using this research, students act as delegates of a specific country, present that country's position on different issues and simulate real world collaboration and negotiation with others to develop solutions.

Length of season: All year.

Meeting dates: We will have an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 after school in Room C419.  Meetings will then begin October 26 after school and meet every other week.

Meeting site: C409

Competitions: Fall Conference, Spring Conference and Edina Invitational Conference.

Eligibility requirements: Open to students in grades 9-12 who meet the Wayzata Public Schools Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements.

Costs and/or needed equipment: Participation fee of $55 to the Activities Office. Additional $50 for conferences, etc.

Student leadership: President; Director of Debate; Director of Finance.
