Elementary
We are updating how technology is used at the elementary level. You can see some of those changes below.
Key changes
- Paper-first basics: Students will use paper and practice handwriting to build strong reading and writing skills.
- Classroom-managed iPads: Students will use iPads only during designated hands-on learning tasks. We will also work to teach students how to use the iPad responsibly.
- Safer devices: We reset district iPads to include only approved learning apps, strict web filters, and limited features.
- More device-free time: Classrooms will focus on hands-on activities and face-to-face connection.
What's next for families?
- Resources: Families will receive resources from the district and from schools to partner with us in this work, and tips on how to manage technology use at home.
- Feedback: We will proactively get feedback from families throughout the school year.
