Technology in Our Schools
Our Balanced Technology Framework (BTF) responds to family and staff feedback about screen time, student focus, and the need for more hands-on learning.
Elementary school
- Device restrictions: We are limiting iPads to essential apps and enforcing stricter web filtering. iPads will stay in classroom charging stations and cannot be taken outside the school building.
- Classroom focus: We will prioritize paper-based reading, writing, and hands-on learning. iPads will be reserved for creative projects that require technology.
Middle school
- Device restrictions: We are restricting YouTube, limiting devices to essential apps, and cutting off after-hours internet access. 6th-grade iPad distribution will be delayed until school starts.
- Classroom focus: Screens must be put away during direct instruction. We will emphasize in-person social skills, digital citizenship, and wellness.
High school
- Device restrictions: We are limiting student devices to essential apps and enforcing stricter web filtering.
- Classroom focus: Screens must be put away during direct instruction to promote face-to-face interaction and social development.
