When to Keep Your Child Home from School

You should keep your child home from school if they have:

• A fever of 100 degrees or higher
• Vomited more than two times in the last 24 hours
• Diarrhea (loose, watery or bloody stools or going more often than usual)
• A new or unexplained rash

You should also keep them home if they show signs of a more serious illness, including:

• Uncontrolled coughing
• Trouble breathing or wheezing
• Very tired or hard to wake
• Persistent crying
• Unusual skin color, such as yellowing skin or eyes

If your child comes down with these symptoms during the school day, we will contact you to pick them up.

Notify us by 10 a.m. that your child will not be in school due to illness.

• Report the absence in Skyward.
• Call your school's attendance line to tell us about your child's symptoms.

Your child can return when:

• They have gone 24 hours without:
  • A fever when not taking medicine
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
• A healthcare provider confirms your rash is not contagious
