Vision and Hearing Screening
We check our students' vision and hearing at school.

Overview
We check our student's hearing and vision to help them learn their best at school.
School health staff automatically do the following exams.
- Color vision exams for males only in kindergarten.
- General hearing and vision exams for all students in grade 1, 3, 5 and 7.
We also schedule an screening if a teacher or parent requests it.
Early childhood screening
Early Learning School staff give general hearing and vision exams to:
- 3- and 4-year olds who come for an early childhood screening
Exam results
If we determine your child may have a vision or hearing issue, we do a second exam. If we get the same result, we:
- Contact the family.
- Recommend next steps.
Questions and choices
Contact your school's health office if:
- You have concerns about your child's vision or hearing.
- If you do not want your child to take part in automatic screenings.
