Special Education Overview

Our team follows the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

IDEA is a federal law that requires public school districts to:

• Provide services to students with disabilities to meet their unique educational needs.
• Serve private and homeschool, as well as public school students. 
• Serve students from birth to age 22.

Staff and services

All schools in our district:

• Have special education teachers.
• Complete special education evaluations.
• Provide special education services and instruction.

Service delivery

• Newborns up to 3-year-olds receive services in their home.
• 3-year-olds up to kindergarteners receive services at our Early Learning School and throughout the community.
• From kindergarten through age 22, most students receive services at school.
• When a student's needs go beyond how we can support them at school, we work with outside organizations.
