Special Education Overview
We provide special education services to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
About our services
Our team follows the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
IDEA is a federal law that requires public school districts to:
- Provide services to students with disabilities to meet their unique educational needs.
- Serve private and homeschool, as well as public school students.
- Serve students from birth to age 22.
Staff and services
All schools in our district:
- Have special education teachers.
- Complete special education evaluations.
- Provide special education services and instruction.
Service delivery
- Newborns up to 3-year-olds receive services in their home.
- 3-year-olds up to kindergarteners receive services at our Early Learning School and throughout the community.
- From kindergarten through age 22, most students receive services at school.
- When a student's needs go beyond how we can support them at school, we work with outside organizations.
