Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

We use data to determine what support each student needs at any given time. This includes academic, behavioral and social-emotional support.

Our mission

  • Keep improving our system.
  • Support teachers in their work.
  • Build on the strengths of students and their families.
  • Listen and respond to their needs.

Minnesota Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MnMTSS) is a statewide framework to help schools improve over time.

  • It supports each student's social, emotional, behavioral and academic success.
  • It uses an anti-bias, equity-focused approach that helps schools review their practices.
  • It helps ensure a fair distribution of resources and opportunity.

Individual school districts use MnMTSS to guide the framework for their students.
