Title 1

Some students in our district may get reading and math support through Title 1.

Overview

Title 1 is a federal program that helps fund extra reading and math support  for students who need help.

Our district receives Title 1 funds to support qualifying students at:

• Birchview 
• Gleason Lake
• Oakwood
• Sunset Hill
• East Middle School

Services

We provide extra instruction in reading and math to students selected for Title 1 services.

• It may take place one-on-one or in small groups.
• It supplements regular classroom instruction.

We set individual goals for each student and follow their progress.

How students qualify

Our teachers and administrators identify students who will benefit from Title 1 services. They consider:

• Standardized tests
• Classroom assessments
• Teacher recommendations

We do not consider economic status.
