Capti-ReadBasix

Capti ReadBasix is a computer-based diagnostic test that helps teachers better understand how students read.

Overview

Capti ReadBasix measures these reading skills:

  • Phonics 
  • Vocabulary
  • Morphology
  • Fluency
  • Comprehension

The purpose of the test is to:

  • Screen students for literacy support needs and identify students with characteristics of Dyslexia.
  • Meet the screening requirements in the Minnesota Reading to Ensure Academic Development (READ) Act.

How it works

  • We give this test to student in grades 4-12, who have not yet demonstrated grade-level proficiency on standardized reading test, one time per year - fall.
  • Students take this test online, using iPads, desktops or laptops.
  • It is a timed test that typically takes 40-60 minutes.

Test results

Scores are shared in the assessments section of Skyward Family Access.
