ACT

The ACT measures academic progress and readiness to perform college-level coursework.

Overview

The ACT measures skills in these areas:

• English conventions and rhetorical skills
• Reading comprehension
• Math problem-solving
• Science problem-solving

All high school students are encouraged to participate in a nationally normed college entrance exam. 

• Minnesota  school districts must provide high school students in grades 11 or 12 the opportunity to take a nationally recognized college entrance exam before graduating.
• Our district offers students a chance to take the ACT in grade 11 in the spring.

The purpose of the test is:

• To provide student information related to their readiness for college-level courses.
• These scores can be used as part of a student's application to colleges. 

How it works

• We give it to all students in grade 11
• Students take this test online, using an iPad
• It is a timed test that typically takes 3 hours
